Outreach Projects | Imagine East Hollywood Pt1

I’ll be regularly posting highlights from various Outreach Projects & Clients. First up is Imagine East Hollywood Commissioned by the EHNC 2009-2010. It culminated in an ImaginAction, where a group of community artists interacted with our audience to break down a neighborhood council agenda. We also displayed & welcomed the community to make suggestions via …

Some pictures taken at last week’s Atwater Village Visioning Summit are below. People were asked to suggest tangible ways to help our neighborhood, so that City Council President Eric Garcetti could focus on real improvement  CD13, which involves a good portion of Atwater Village. Do you agree with their ideas? Do you have more? They …

Username burnout

books on stairs

It’s probably a vast understatement to say that I have many interests. Unintended consequence (my new favorite phrase)? Username burnout. Account schizophrenia. You know what I mean and it’s horribly embarassing. Your very …

Bringing art & community to people

Imagine Interaction

When people ask me what I’ve been doing lately, we always come back to it. Yes, I’ve been writing. Yes, I’m teaching and coaching more and loving it. Outreach is what I am most interested in pursuing, though. While trying to explain how my work on the Atwater Village Neighborhood Council is a natural outgrowth …

But not until two members of the East Hollywood NC approached me to become Project Director for Imagine East Hollywood. The combination of …

The First Imaginings

Arriving at the Cahuenga Public Library right on time at 3:30pm, Imagine East Hollywood: Autobiography of a City officially began.  Although our volunteers are numerous, this first day became my private testing ground. I keep thinking back to Svetlana Alexievich, the journalist responsible for Voices From Chernobyl, and the obstacles she faced.  She had to …

Imagine East Hollywood ~ the beginning!

Tonight I await my partners in this crazy venture called Imagine East Hollywood.  In short, the East Hollywood Neighborhood Council asked me to collect interviews and present something to the Council in the vein of my project Voices From Chornobyl during the Barnsdall Art Gallery Fluxus Project.  Basically, I collect interviews and make a theatrical …
